1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)
"No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."
Every athlete faces moments when they want to quit, cut corners, or take the easy way out. The temptation to cheat. To give less than your best. To do what's comfortable instead of what's right.
Temptation is not a sign that you're weak — it's a sign that you're in the game. Jesus was tempted. Every person who has ever tried to live for God has been tempted. The difference is what you do with it.
God promises a way out. Not a way around — a way through. When temptation comes, look for the exit. It's always there.
God, when temptation comes, help me to find the way out You have already provided. Give me the strength to take it. Amen.
I block the lie that I have no choice when temptation comes. God always provides a way out — and I will look for it and take it.
James 1:14-15 (NIV)
"But each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death."
What is your most consistent area of temptation — and what does the "way out" look like for you?
How does knowing that temptation is "common to mankind" change how you feel about your own struggles?
