2 Corinthians 9:7 (NIV)
"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
Generosity is not about how much you have. It's about the posture of your heart. A cheerful giver doesn't give because they have to — they give because they want to. Because they've been given so much.
In volleyball, the best teammates give freely — their energy, their encouragement, their effort. They don't hold back. They don't calculate what they'll get in return. They just give.
God is the most generous being in the universe. He gave His Son. He gives grace. He gives mercy. He gives life. When you give generously, you look like your Father.
Lord, make me a cheerful giver. Help me to hold my resources loosely and give freely — because You gave everything for me. Amen.
I block the lie that I don't have enough to give. God loves a cheerful giver — and I choose to give generously from what He has given me.
Luke 21:1-4 (NIV)
"As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 'Truly I tell you,' he said, 'this poor widow has put in more than all the others.'"
How would you describe your current posture toward generosity — tight-fisted or open-handed?
What is one area where you could give more freely this week — money, time, energy, or encouragement?
